Masterminds - The Dinner Set Gang

The Dinner Set Gang, also known as the Fat Cat Burglars, was a pair of thieves who became notorious in the late 1960s and 70's for stealing precious jewels from the rich and famous. The principal members of the gang were brothers-in-law Peter Salerno and Dominick Latella but some of the gang's nicknames, such as the Traveling Trio, included their driver (who was originally Carmine Stanzione, the husband of Salerno's sister). Newspapers in New York and Florida nicknamed them the Dinner Set Gang because they stole jewels not while a house was empty, but while the victims were home eating dinner. Because of this innovation, they are legends in the eyes of the detectives that investigated their case and are believed to have set the standard to which all jewel thieves are now compared.
